In case of accident.

In case of an accident, the Turo Insurance ID Card is available on the app when you view the trip details. Please write down or take pictures of the vehicle info (VIN, license plate, and state of vehicle), driver license info (name, address, and driver license number), and insurance info (insurance company and policy number) of all parties involved. Please inform us of the details of the accident and share all relevant documents. If you need to speak with a Turo customer service representative, their number is (415)965-4525. Please message us a few pictures that clearly show the damage to (insert #) and report the accident to Turo using: https://turo.com/resolutions

If vehicle is towed.

If the vehicle is towed to an impound lot, it is your responsibility to retrieve the vehicle immediately. It is your responsibility to pay for all fees associated with the ticket, tow, and storage. Please contact Turo, (415)965-4525, to get a copy of the rental contract and receive instructions on how to retrieve the vehicle.

If you get a ticket.

If you get a ticket, please be sure to pay it promptly. If we receive it through mail, we will work with Turo to transfer the liability to you and charge you a processing fee.

Mileage for your trip.

The allowed miles for your trip are listed on Turo. The “Total miles included” on Turo is the limit for your entire trip. Please make sure you’re aware of the number of miles included for your trip. There will be a fee for additional miles driven. Unless you select unlimited miles.

Charging

If you're on the road and need to recharge for your trip, you can charge at one of Tesla's 40,000+ Superchargers. The cost of charging will be billed to us, and we'll bill you after your trip. Tesla Superchargers now have a $1 per minute fee for idling, so please be sure to remove your vehicle once charging is completed. This will help us keep the Superchargers clean and available for everyone. Thanks for your help!

Tolls

The car is equipped with a EZ-pass for your convenience. Enjoy the convenience of the EZ-pass as you travel through tolls without having to stop and pay. We will bill you for all toll charges incurred.

Returning the car.

The car needs to be returned by the scheduled end date and end time listed on Turo. If you think you will not be able to return the car by your scheduled end date and end time listed on Turo, please use the “Change trip” and “Change trip length” options to extend your trip before it officially ends. If the car is not returned by the scheduled end date and end time listed on Turo, you will be charged an additional usage fee, a late fee, and an improper return fee.

Please remove all of your belongings and all trash before returning the car - including any parking permits, garage clickers, and keys on the keychain. You won’t be able to retrieve anything from the car once you return it.

FAQs

  • Our electric vehicles can be booked on Turo.com. Driving one of our EVs is the perfect way to save on gas and help the environment. With a variety of models to choose from, we have the perfect EV for you.

  • Ready to hit the open road? Before you can book our EVs on Turo, you’ll need to create a Turo account. Make sure you’re at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license, and we’ll approve you to drive on Turo in no time. It’s easy - just enter your driver’s license and some other information, and you’ll be good to go for every future road trip, business trip, and family vacation!

  • No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to book a car on Turo in the US. But, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland.

When booking a car on Turo, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier, Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of coverage that’s right for you. With each plan, you’re covered with third-party liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company — $750,000 for the Premier plan.†

  • No, you don’t need a US license to book a car in the US. But you do need a valid driver’s license — most international driver’s licenses are accepted in the US, Canada, and the UK.

  • Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you book on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever booked the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests in the US and Canada can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

  • You can cancel and get a full refund up to 24 hours before your trip starts. If you book a trip with less than 24 hours’ notice, you have one hour after booking to cancel free of charge. If you cancel after the free cancellation period ends, you will be charged a small cancellation fee.

In the rare event a host cancels, you’ll be notified immediately so you can book another car, or we’ll help you find one. Your refund can be temporarily held to expedite rebooking, or the funds can be returned to your bank account — your choice.

  • If there’s an emergency or an issue with the car, call our emergency roadside assistance provider, available 24/7. We’ll make sure you’re safe, then help you get back on your way.
